We’re the Wire Clippers.

The Wire Clippers is a group of high schoolers passionate about STEAM and robotics. We participate in FRC, a yearly robotics competition run by FIRST® Robotics (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) that’s been encouraging students to learn skills in engineering, programming, and sustaining a business since its founding in Manchester, NH by Dean Kamen in 1989.

We’re completely self-funded and student-run. After our necessary fundraising efforts (which you can take part in), we have six weeks to build and program a robot to complete tasks. We’re a passionate little group that’s enthusiastic and driven.

At the UNH District Event, we placed 22nd out of 35 teams in the qualification matches. We are happy with our overall performance this season and are looking forward to our post-season projects, so look forward to more posts! UNH Day One. We ended the day 16th of 35th teams and we have three more matches to go. Day two here we come! We did some last minute repairs and part harvesting for our last competition. Suffice to say we are ready to compete. UNH, Let’s Crescendo! #firstroboticschallenge #unh #whittemorecenter #robotics #firstcrescendo This past weekend we attended the North Shore District event. We went 4-8 in the qualification matches, placing 27th out of 36. We were invited to Finals Alliance 6 by the Alliance Captain @irontigers4176 and Team 7913 “Bear”ly Function(ing). In our first appearance in a district finals in 5 years, our alliance went 0-2. Overall, it was an incredible time. Huge thanks to our alliance mates for inviting us to play, and to our sponsors for making this possible. We still have one more competition to go, UNH here we come! First day of competition done and on to the second! After quite a few hits some repairs had to be made. Our robot is now rigged up with ropes like a boat, fitting of our school mascot the Clipper ship. We plan on using cleats to add tension to this contraption. We also had to use some zipties... Everything is holding up well and will be repaired fully after competition ends! we refined our approach and now have an high success rate on shooting notes into the speaker!
