1/30/23 Growth in Engineering: a Case Study

Good afternoon, everyone, and welcome back to another post! We would like to begin by thanking Don Delisle and Allison Rudman for allowing us to meet today. After a productive Monday, we are on track for our goal of completing the robot’s arm by the end of the week!

The Build Team: Today, the Build Team made considerable progress preparing for the competition. The seesaw was finished today and that allowed the programming team to work on the code to allow the robot to stop on the seesaw. The Build Team themselves ran into some issues regarding our arm system, and some of its measurements. However, they quickly worked around it and began to fix the issue, all while adding the fixes to the timeline to ensure they remained on track. The Build Team also worked on the chassis of the robot, adding some wiring for motors and prepping it for the arm system. A prototype of the claw system was also finished today, allowing our programming team to have another toy to play with while the full robot continues to be worked on.

The Programming team: We’ll start by talking about our programming member Daniel Sabalokov and his contributions to the Greenland robotics team. Daniel lent his programming experience to the team and assisted in them making it to the state competition. We would like to give a huge congratulations to Greenland robotics for making it to the states! Today, the programming team began work on code that would allow our robot to traverse the charging station, with the goal of balancing the station for extra points. In addition, they also worked on code that helped to balance the robot and continued work on using Limelight cameras to calculate distances.

Dylan Webb and Nick Dalhen are hard at work

The Business Team: The Business team continued to chip away at the award essays. Although the deadlines are coming up next week for a few of them, our Business Team Captain Dylan has kept a level head and managed to properly pace the team to meet those deadlines. Particularly, the team worked on editing the Woodie Flowers Essay and continued writing the FIRST Impact Award Essay. The Business Team also set plans into motion regarding the video portion of the FIRST Impact Award.
