10/31/22- Building Chariots!

Welcome, loyal followers, back to The Wire Clippers blog. It is our hope that these update posts will become more regular, but who knows what the future holds. I would first like to thank the adult supervisors from today and our last practice, which were Chris Dahlen and Bill Chamberlin. We had a very productive time and a lot of fun!

The building team talking about how they want to design chariots. Logistics dicsussions are underway.

Building team: The Wire Clippers robotics team partnered with the dual enrollment Ancient Western Civilization history class this past week! The Building team is now tasked with making five chariots, one each for the cities of Athens, Sparta, Rome, Carthage, and one for ourselves. The team is starting by making plans for one chariot and how they want to design it, then they will do the same for the remaining four chariots. We plan to use this as practice for the actual build season, as well as practice for the newer members to utilize the tools and get a feel for the process of building robot designs.

The Programming team tests and shows how the code works

Programming team: Today, the Programming team was showing all of the newer members how the code works so that they understand exactly what they are writing. They used an old robot from the previous year to test drive the code, while the Programming Captain Adam gave demonstrations for each part of the code. With this experience we hope that soon the whole team can begin practicing writing code on their own.

The bissnues team is hard at work preparing for the upcoming year

Business team: Today, the business team prepared responses to commonly asked questions, the Chairman’s Executive Awards, and went over the financial history of past years. Business team captain Dylan worked on community outreach and contacting past and prospective sponsors, hoping to secure funds for running of the team. We hope for more progress on the safety video next week, and for more work to be done on the blog.

A lot of good work was done today and we will continue to update you as further progress is being made!
