Hello, dear viewers, and welcome back to the Wire Clippers blog. We’ve had a quiet few weeks thus far, but today we have some exciting information to share! We finally launched the Chariot Race! It was a great success, with the track fielding fully five chariots, including one automated one designed by the team. The chariots performed as expected, and despite the paper mache taking a beating, the structure of the chariots held strong. Congratulations to the winning team, Athens, and a sincere thank you to Mr. DeNuzio, for allowing us to use the Portsmouth High School Gym, and to Mrs. Young, for making this project possible.
As soon as the race ended, the Programming Team got straight back to work. As we close in on the end of the Preseason, the Programming Team is on track to finish their training, and be ready to dive directly in as soon as we hit the kickoff!
Likewise, the Build Team debriefed on the chariot race, talking over what went well, as well as what could be improved. Although our designs were highly effective, we agreed our scheduling could be more efficient, and are working on a system for longer objective planning. After that, they began to work on the second lightning round. Much like the Business Team, their current efforts are largely in the brainstorming process. Between our repeated drills on the design process and a more deliberate design for the build schedule, the Build Team is prepared to hit the ground running once the season starts.
As for the Business Team, we got to work on a brand new venture: the Digital Animation Award! It is a bit different from the Safety Animation we worked on prior, with a much broader focus, and more latitude in our execution. However, with one award animation on our belt, we are prepared to tackle the animation head-on, with clearer scheduling, a more efficient division of labor, and a wealth of new experience. Currently, we’re in the brainstorming process, trying to figure out what scene we could depict to address the prompt of “Create a Charged Up solution to an everyday problem.” We have a few ideas thus far and are excited to tackle animation once again!
After another day of seemingly non-stop activity, I am proud to say that we are set to meet our goals in the preseason. Our new members are well integrated into the team, and the team as a whole is better trained, better equipped, and more organized than when we started. Thank you all for your support, and we will keep you updated as we head into the last week of our preseason!
