Two Weeks Left! 3/13/23

Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen. We hope you had a great week — we certainly did! We’ve been hard at work, fixing up the robot and its code in order to largely improve our performance in the upcoming competition. With the first week of three already gone, we’re going to be working extra hard to make our ambitions become reality.

The Business Team: With the award work done, Business is focusing mostly on fundraising and outreach. We’re planning on a few outreach opportunities that we will share once they are set in stone. Those aside, we would like to form more team-team connections; in that vein, we’ve made contact with the Dover, Oyster River, and Kittery teams, all of which we plan on practicing with in the coming week(s).

The new chain system we used for our upper arm

The Build Team: This week, the Build Team will be largely focused on the mechanics of the arm. This past week, they managed to convert the upper arm to a chain mechanism which should give the drivers better control of the arm via more torque, allowing us to score more consistently. By and large, Build is taking a bit of a backseat this week as we want to put most of our efforts towards Programming.

The Charge Platform we are using for practice

The Programming Team: The Programming Team is taking the spotlight this week, as we believe they have the largest area for improvement in terms of raw point gain. Particularly, we hope to get more autonomous code completed, ideally allowing us to gain upwards of 20 points in the autonomous period alone, which would give us the upper hand over many other bots. Additionally, we want to try and score some points during autonomous, which would mean utilizing the April Tags and Limelight sensor that we were coding earlier in the season. It is a bit of a stretch goal for us, as there are other areas we will likely try to improve first, but it is a goal nonetheless.

That just about does it for this week. We’ll see you next week on Monday with some more news. That will also be our final update before the competition. Goodbye, and stay safe!
