We had our longest meeting to date today; we had finals today (giving us a half day for school) but had a day off tomorrow (meaning nobody would be busy studying) and as a result we’ve got a whopping six hours of work time.

The build team spent this extended operating time working on the actual body of the robot. We finally finished up the chassis, and, having worked through a few issues in the construction process, we can say with certainty that it’s ready to go. Not only that, but just today we began building the electronics board, and the rest of the robot’s frame is progressing along nicely; in spite of some faulty aluminum rods, today alone has seen significant leaps in the assembly process.

The programming team spent the day isolating older code for the servos, in order to study and modify it, so we can use it on the ball launching mechanism. Despite being seriously understaffed, they succeeded in improving its servo mobility.

Lastly, the business team spent the majority of the day working on the Chairman’s award; finalizing the essay and short answer submissions, started filming interviews for the video, as well as reviewing both our previous submissions, and those of the teams that won over the last two years. Additionally, we took inventory on our team’s surprisingly large collection of miscellaneous arts and crafts equipment.

Today’s meeting was both one of our longest and most productive. We were able to make dramatic progress on our Chairman’s Award submission, on our organisation, and, most importantly, on the robot itself. Despite the problems we’ve faced with logistics, we’re still going strong.
