We’ve had a busy couple of days here at the Wire Clippers workspace. With the parts for our new chassis in, we can finally get to work on the construction of our next robot. Today was the build team’s “gearbox day,” when they’ll be focused entirely on getting the robot’s gear systems running. Since those gear systems transfer motion between the motors and whatever needs to be moved, this is a pretty important thing to get right.

The programming team spent much of their time on programming for the robot’s cameras, which will give us much-needed visibility during matches, and aren’t likely to need too much reprogramming next year. In addition to that, however, the programming team was also in charge of dealing with the frankly astonishing amount of FIRST Merch that came with our latest shipment of parts. Until this year, there was no preselected storage space for Governor’s Cup Competition-themed sweat towels.

Lastly, on the business team, we’ve been wrangling the people who need to be wrangled to make a beach cleanup happen. With the awards largely over and done with, the only other tasks left to members of the business team are providing updates on social media (if, as a strict hypothetical, we had a blog we were updating, that would be a pretty good example of this). Otherwise, most of the business crew has gone off to work with other subgroups for the rest of the build season.

All in all, things are moving on at a slow, steady pace. Since we’ve got finals this Thursday, we aren’t going to be able to do a meeting until Monday. Until then, stay safe, and we hope to see you soon!
