Update 5, and the last update before our kickoff this Saturday. It’s been a while since we’ve posted. Let’s get you up to speed.
Recap of December
- Ancient Civ Kids – politely, please stop sending us blueprints that are major safety liabilities for both us and the school. Build Team can only do so much with your plans. We’re finished with them for now. But seriously. We cannot enclose you completely in a box of wood.
- Pat the Robot’s getting some work done on it.
- We tested if Gerald the Vacuum works as a vacuum.
- It’s not a safety hazard if the goggles are on. (This is a joke.)
- We’ve cleaned out the wood closet.
- The 3D printer’s still acting up.
- I really wouldn’t trust that wood sculpture.
- Some final revisions to our testing stuff.
Right, onto the chaos today!
Build
We’ve just gotten a new 3D printer!
Hopefully, this one will work a little better than last time. Thanks to Port City Makerspace for helping get us this brand-new one. If you’d like to help us out financially, consider sponsoring us!
On the testbench side, we’re working on putting our testbench on a slab of wood. Previously, we had to manhandle the acrylic and electronics to move it, but this is way more convenient.
Business
We’re currently prepping a document to be presented to the superintendent regarding how expensive it is to build a robot and get food for people. So far, considering we’re looking at a 2000 dollar price tag for parts alone, we’re going to probably need the funding.
Website-wise, I’ve taken the logical step after adding stuff and updated our privacy policy. I’m also making some ongoing changes in the pursuit of making this website the best it could be. So far, I’ve started work on writing about the robots we’re working with this season. Hopefully, it’ll be published very soon.
I also made us a new TikTok account – hopefully, this means I can be as deranged as possible.
Final Notes
Final meet until we’re up and rolling. To Robotics members: Kickoff is this Saturday, so be there! We’ll be talking discussion about how to tackle issues faced in our upcoming project.
Here’s to a great season!
