Practicing Designing 11-28-22

Welcome back, loyal followers, to another exciting blog post! I hope you had a good Thanksgiving break, and a relaxing one too. The Wire Clippers returned from break ready for another exciting meeting today, full of action. We would like to thank Mr. Chamberlin and Mr. Dahlen for coming here today and allowing us to meet. Although we are only in the Preseason, we are getting ready for the chariot races coming up soon and preparing for the FIRST competition with our Lightning Rounds.

Today the programming team had a very productive day, practicing with the robot by developing the basic commands for moving and then seeing how the robot responds. The other members of the programming team worked out some technical issues with the software that we are using. The programming team also practiced making the code and checking it, learning some new code on the way!

Besides building stuff, the Build Team also has to design what they are building too. Today the Build Team practiced designing a robot, taking the FIRST competition in 2014 and designing robots to be capable of shooting a ball to a high target, catching a ball from other robots, and blocking other balls from going into the catching mechanism. The Build Team was split into two separate groups making competing designs. In addition to the four goal categories, they will be graded on design realism, adherence to competition regulations, and presentation. The build team also worked on finishing the reigns for the chariots and making sure the chariots, putting the finishing touches on the project before the painting process.

The business team making the animation

Today the Business Team worked hard on the safety animation and made a lot of progress on that. We also wrote and updated the sponsor list on our website, and updated all of our social media platforms. Feel free to follow us at frc5902 on Instagram, Facebook, and now Twitter!
